Terms of Service

These terms apply to all orders placed with Board and Sharp LLC (“Board and Sharp”, “I”, “me”) through boardandsharp.com, by text message, by phone or by email. By placing an order you agree to these terms.

Sharpening service

I sharpen kitchen knives, serrated knives, scissors and other blades using a Tormek wet grinder and a belt grinder. I pick up blades from, and return them to, addresses in the Westchester area.

To book, you provide your name, the number of blades and your address. I then confirm a pickup window with you. You may leave your blades outside for pickup, for example on a porch, wrapped in a cloth and placed in a bag. If you choose to leave blades unattended, you do so at your own risk: I am not responsible for items lost, taken or damaged before I collect them or after I return them.

I inspect every blade before work begins. I may decline to sharpen a blade if it is unsafe to work on, structurally damaged, of a type I do not service, or if sharpening would likely damage it. If I decline, you are not charged for that blade.

Sharpening removes a small amount of steel. This is normal and unavoidable. Chips, bends, prior damage, soft or brittle steel and manufacturing defects may become visible or worsen during sharpening. I will tell you if I see a problem, but I am not liable for pre-existing damage or for the normal loss of material that sharpening involves.

My liability for any single blade is limited to the amount you paid to have that blade sharpened.

Pricing and payment

Current prices are shown on boardandsharp.com. Sales tax is added at checkout where applicable. Pickup and delivery are free for orders of five or more blades; orders of fewer than five blades include a trip fee.

You can pay online through the store, or through a secure payment link that I send you after the work is done. Payment is due on receipt of that link. Prices for repair and restoration work are quoted after inspection and confirmed with you before work begins.

Scheduling

Pickup windows are estimates. Traffic, weather and route changes can shift them. I will let you know if a window changes. I do not guarantee a specific turnaround time unless I have agreed to one with you directly.

Products

Cutting boards and other wood products are made by hand from natural wood. Grain, color and figure vary from piece to piece, and photographs are representative rather than exact. These variations are a feature of solid wood, not a defect.

Wood products require care: hand wash, dry promptly, never put them in a dishwasher or soak them, and oil them periodically. Damage caused by improper care is not covered.
